Tea and IBEX

Thanks for Visiting to Learn About IBEX Bone Health

If you are visiting this page then we must have had the pleasure of talking to you at RSNA or GIANT 2023. We hope that you are reading this with a nice cup of our branded teas.

So why tea?

Research suggests that certain compounds found in tea, such as flavonoids and polyphenols, may contribute to bone density and strength. These elements are believed to play a role in the bone remodeling process, where old bone tissue is replaced by new, healthier tissue.

Awareness is the first step to change

There are many strategies for improving bone health and reducing the risk of fracture. Beyond tea, these include diet, regular exercise and a range of pharmacological treatments. Despite this, 1 in 4 of us will break a bone due to osteoporosis and the condition is estimated to effect up to 54 million over 50’s in the US, of which more than 80% are women [1].

Raising awareness of the condition is the first step to change and this is where IBEX Bone Health can help to close the so-called diagnosis gap.

Closing the Osteoporosis diagnosis gap with IBEX Bone Health

Low rates of osteoporosis diagnosis appear to be a factor in the poor treatment levels of the disease [2]. IBEX Bone Health addresses this by returning a measure of bone density from a standard X-ray. For the first time, this allows patients receiving an X-ray to also receive a measure of their bone health at the same time.

The first version is compatible with wrist X-rays and provides a measure at two key sites. Low bone density at the wrist is a good indicator of low bone density elsewhere in the body and provides an excellent early indicator which can be used to flag up the need for further investigation.
