(Grants & Project Delivery Manager)
Kurt Scott (or Elvis Scott as he was almost named) is the Grants and Project Delivery Manager here at IBEX, he also has an MEng in Chemical Engineering and is currently studying for his MBA. I think it’s fair to say he has a lot on his plate, so I thought I’d add a little more to it by asking him for his life story…
A quick summary of what you do at IBEX
I was the second employee and have worked to support daily activities in the business, initially as an engineer and now as the Grants and Project Delivery Manger. My role primarily revolves around identifying, applying for, and managing grant funded projects, helping to facilitate the amazing research and development that happens at IBEX. I also support the ongoing marketing and commercialisation activity and oversee the execution of clinical evaluations of the Trueview technology.
How did you find yourself at IBEX?
I’ve been with IBEX since 2011 when the founder and personal friend, Gary Gibson, described his vision for the business and suggested I might be a good fit.
Professional background, life outside of work, and some key interests?
I joined IBEX about a year after completing my Masters degree in Chemical Engineering, having previously worked with a small wastewater treatment company as a KTP associate. I’ve always been a bit of a science geek so working with IBEX on the cutting edge of X-ray imaging technology is great. I love most things sci-fi and used to be a big gamer before I had kids but now my time outside of work is split between renovating our house, working on my MBA and keeping my boys entertained.
What are some of your future goals and aspirations?
My experiences at IBEX have shown me the importance of always striving for better and that technology development is a key driver of improving lives and protecting the environment. I want to continue to use the skills and knowledge I am developing at IBEX and through my MBA to help make IBEX a global leader in X-ray imaging technology and to encourage and facilitate the next generation of technology start-ups.
An interesting fact about you:
I was named after world famous action movie hero Kurt Russell. (I was apparently nearly Clint or Elvis but luckily my dad’s middle name is Russell so Kurt it was).
Your go-to productivity trick?
I tend to work best when I’m under pressure, particularly with looming deadlines. Setting myself arbitrary deadlines helps me focus on specific tasks that otherwise might get pushed to the bottom of the to-do list.
And there you have it, a peak into the intriguing world of Kurt… don’t worry, I let him get back to work after this.
