Dr. Margot McBride’s Osteoporosis Story

Dr. Margot McBride is an amputee suffering from severe osteoporosis who is also in remission from Cushing’s disease. Margot believes that if her low bone mass was diagnosed earlier her osteoporosis would be far less severe today.

Margot’s Background

Dr. Margot McBride is a research radiographer who recently joined IBEX as a Clinical Advisor.

Her story is powerful and unique in many ways, however, when it comes to her osteoporosis diagnosis, Margot’s experience is one that’s sadly shared by millions.

Given that May is National Osteoporosis Month, IBEX wanted to take this opportunity to share Margot’s story, raise awareness of osteoporosis, and discuss the importance of early diagnosis.

Earlier Diagnosis of Low Bone Mass

Margot firmly believes that IBEX’s Trueview technology could improve quality of life for countless people who are at risk of osteoporosis through earlier diagnosis.

The Trueview software measures bone health from a standard X-ray meaning that if a patient has a fracture, such as a wrist fracture (which is often an early warning sign of poor bone health), they could also be screened for osteoporosis.

If IBEX Trueview® had been widely available, Margot’s low bone mass could have been identified from the X-rays taken prior to her amputation, this could have also led to an earlier diagnosis of Cushing’s syndrome.
