IBEX has been shortlisted as a finalist in the SME Innovation category of the 2016 NHS Bright Ideas in Health Awards. The awards are an annual competition, organised by NHS Innovations North, that identify and celebrate achievements and innovations in healthcare by NHS Trusts and SMEs in North East England.
The IBEX entry to the competition describes the way in which IBEX technology can be used to collect bone fragility data in routine fracture scans. The ability to collect this information on such a wide scale, with no additional appointments or X-rays for the patient, could lead to earlier detection and prevention of bone health issues such as osteoporosis across the population. This would significantly reduce the incidence of fragility fractures, currently estimated to cost ~£2.3bn in health and social care provision in the UK.
We are delighted to have been shortlisted as a finalist in these awards along with a collection of other great organisations that demonstrate the skills and talent driving innovation forward in the North East.

About IBEX Innovations Limited
IBEX Innovations Limited (IBEX) is a venture capital backed technology business focused on the commercialisation of patented X-ray detector technology for medical and industrial imaging markets. The IBEX technology, which retrofits to existing X-ray detectors, recovers spectral information normally lost in digital X-ray imaging to classify materials in the sample and deliver improved detection of defects and impurities. IBEX is developing applications for its technology in multiple industrial markets including food inspection and NDT, and for medical radiography where the technology is expected to generate improved diagnostic images at reduced patient dose.
